External Quality Assessment Scheme for Blood Banks in India |
OBJECTIVE – To homogenize the Quality standards of the Blood Banks across India and provide a common platform for Quality assessment.
The BEQAS Advisory Committee comprises of Senior Qualified Technical Persons/Doctors from the Leading Blood Banks and laboratories across India.For total quality management and accreditation f blood banks, External Quality Assessment System (EQAS) is an integral part. The programme is recognized by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH, Quality Council of India, Govt of India). BQAS has given a platform to Indian Blood Transfusion Services (BTS) and also to neibouring countries to for EQAS and to bring up standard of blood banking through external proficiency system.
This is a specially designed proficiency testing system for Blood Banks across India. All the parameters will be compared round the year in three cycles through inter Blood Bank laboratory testing. Results will be evaluated using latest statistical software and qualitatively as appropriate. The product in quality assessment will comprise of testing of HBsAg, anti-HBc, anti-HIV, anti-HCV, VDRL, malarial parasite (MP), Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) and hemoglobin. This program is also avialble for red cell antibody detection, cross matching and other immunohematology tests. |
